If you are not a student at the University of Connecticut, you are welcome to apply to a number of our programs. To find a list of those programs, go to find a program and look for the search paramater "open to non-UConn students." Select "yes" and then hit the search button.
To apply online through this website you first need to create an account. To do this, select the program to which you wish to apply and click on the "apply now" button. At the bottom of the log-on box, you will see a link which says "New non-UConn applicants, click here to request a login." You will then be guided through the process of creating an account which will let you apply to a program. Once you submit the Signature Verification Form you will be able to sign the Signature Documents. Please note that your application is not complete unless you submit the Transcript Request Form to us with your application.
All students enrolling through UConn will receive credits and grades as if the courses had been taken at UConn. While you are studying abroad, you will be registered at the University of Connecticut as a non-degree student. Upon successful completion of the program, grades and credits are posted and an official UConn transcript will be sent to the address you provided on the Transcript Request Form. You should check with your college or university to find out how it will post UConn credits. The number of credits you can earn depends on the program you choose. With proper advisor assistance, you can choose the program that best accommodates your plan of study and doesn't interrupt your normal progress toward graduation.
If you are not enrolled in a degree program at the University of Connecticut, you are ineligible for financial aid through UConn. You should check with your own university's financial aid office to find out if your financial aid can be used for a UConn program. Normally, your financial aid office should initiate a "consortium agreement" between your university and the University of Connecticut, and if the study abroad program you have selected is on your university's approved list, your aid may be applied. However, the decision is up to your home university.
Non-UConn students who have received financial aid through their home school and wish to have their fee bill deferred, must submit a letter from the home school stating the types and amounts of aid awarded, expected disbursement dates, and whether the aid will be disbursed to the student or to the Bursar's Office at UConn. For further information, please contact the UConn Deferment Office at (860) 486-5014, or write to Bursar, Deferment Office, Unit-4100,233 Glenbrook Rd., Storrs, CT 06269-4100.
